A Walterdale production run typically consists of 10 performances and two preview performances. There have been some variances from this in the past, but this is the general pattern.
The two previews are technically rehearsals with an audience present. Further information on these can be found in the Preview Performances section.
Walterdale productions typically run as follows: (this is an image because Word tables don’t translate to websites well)
*Please note that these are the start times for the show and do not indicate call times for cast and crew. Those call times will be specific to the show, but are usually an hour to 2 hours prior to the show start.
The Walterdale Bell
It is a Walterdale tradition that 10 minutes prior to every Walterdale performance, the bell in the bell tower be rung.
Though there are no set guidelines to decide who rings the bell, typically, the Stage Manager for a show will post a list for cast and crew to sign up to ring the bell. If any slots go unfilled, typically the Stage Manager will ring the bell for that performance.
10 minutes before the performance is to begin, the Stage Manager will lead the individual(s) ringing the bell to the tower door (located in the backstage stairwell). The Stage Manager will unlock the tower door, wherein the designated individual(s) will pull the rope to ring the bell, declaring to any within hearing range that a Walterdale show is to begin in 10 minutes. The Stage Manager will then lead the individual(s) out of the room and lock the tower door once more.
