General Safety
At all times, all activities of Walterdale Theatre Associates shall be conducted in a safe and responsible manner. To achieve this, it is the responsibility of all members to report and/or remediate unsafe conditions, to be properly oriented in the safe handling of tools and equipment that they are to use, and to ensure that the building is in appropriate safety readiness (e.g. having protective equipment, using personal protective equipment, keeping safety exits cleared). Unsafe conditions and work habits cannot be tolerated.
Department heads and Board members shall ensure that committees, production crews, contractors, renters and guests are appropriately instructed in safety in the carrying out of their assignments, projects and productions.
The Walterdale Board of Directors shall be aware of the safety condition of the theatre premises, and instruct, assess and restrict activities as necessary. Emergency response contact information shall be maintained and posted in appropriate locations throughout Walterdale Theatre.
Hazards shall be identified, analyzed and controlled on an ongoing basis by appropriate individuals. Education and orientation, including instruction manuals, demonstrations, verbal and written orientations shall be communicated and provided to those using Walterdale Theatre and its various assets.
All individuals have the responsibility to log incidents. This is usually done by the head of the appropriate department (e.g. Stage Manager for cast, Master Builder for Building Crew). An Incident Log Form is included here. It is recommended that no one work in the building alone.
First Aid
Walterdale Theatre Associates shall ensure that the appropriate level of first aid supplies are provided and maintained. Use of first aid supplies will be monitored and kits replenished on a continuous basis by the Building Director. First aid instructions shall be available in appropriate locations throughout Walterdale Theatre.
Current lists of first aiders within a production should be compiled and communicated, particularly for production crews, casts and for ongoing activities at Walterdale Theatre. It is recommended the Stage Manager do so for the cast and the Production Manager do so for the rest of the production team.
